Andréa Burns is just about perfect in portraying Holliday and in making seamless shifts between her two identities.
It’s a smart script from playwright Willy Holtzman, but it is enhanced by kinetic direction of Peter Flynn.
Burns so immerses herself in the role. A star is re-born! She is a veritable reincarnation of the famous blonde bombshell.
“Smart Blonde” entertains and informs with an ingenious conceit. It asks that you use your noggin, even if you don’t boast a 172 IQ à la the actress Judy Holliday.
Brody and Heller are fine actors who work overtime to contribute reality and nuance to a multiplicity of characters.
But what about the production, the finished product as a whole? I’ll let the spontaneous standing ovation that came at the end of the evening speak for itself.
